Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant Award 2011-2012

Primary School was awarded a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant from the National Dairy Council and the National Football League in 2011!  Our $3100 grant was used to support Taste Test Days, purchase apples and water for for all participants at Parents in PE, and buy pedometers, balls and other fitness equipment to support our Physical Education program.  We also purchased new signage promoting nutrient-rich foods for our lunch room and replaced the portable milk cooler for our cafeteria. The initiative got students involved in crea
ting a healthier school environment that promotes student health, learning and achievement.  Through Fuel Up to Play 60, students pledged to choose more nutritious foods (including low-fat and fat-free dairy foods,  fruits, vegetables and whole grains),  get 60 minutes of physical activity every day and encourage their friends and family to join them- and have fun too!  Students also participated in a Walk It! Program, and were able to         enjoy the fitness benefits with friends during PE and Health class.
