Welcome to the Newton Mental Health Team Website!

Rachael Baker, Psy. D.
School Psychologist

Hi! I am the full time School Psychologist here at Newton Middle School. This is my first year at Newton and I feel very lucky and am excited to be here! In my role, I work with students on difficulties related to academics, behavior, and their social-emotional functioning. I mostly work with students in special education and help in determining their eligibility for services, as well as their needs.

I live in Lone Tree with my husband and our 1 year old mutt, Lincoln. I was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, but have lived in Colorado the past six years and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. In my free time, I love to hike, cook, read, and spend time exploring this beautiful state. My office is located in the front office. I look forward to meeting you!

Susie Swingler, LSW
Social Worker

Hi! I am the Social Worker here at Newton Middle School.  My role is essentially what most people think about a school counselor doing. I meet with students regarding academics, social, emotional, or any other reasons they need! I am here to support students, parents, and staff. This is my second year at Newton, and I am so glad to be back. I love this school and community! I live with my husband Nick and our lovely dog Lucy. We live in Denver and live a pretty fun life. We both like to hang out with friends, be active (me more than him!), and go on adventures. I like to visit my family in New Hampshire, where I was born and raised.

Come visit me in my office (in the main office across from the nurse clinic) and we can chat! I hope everyone has a great school year.

Christina Wu, Ed.S.
School Psychologist

Hi! I am the part-time School Psychologist at Newton Middle School.  This is my first year at Newton and in LPS.  Previously I worked in Douglas County School District and Jeffco Public Schools.  I am excited to be part of the LPS community and look forward to supporting the students, staff, and families at NMS.  My role is to provide assessment, consultation, and social-emotional support for Special Education students.  When possible, I also support the social-emotional needs of other students in the building as needed.

I live in Highlands Ranch with my husband and two young children, which keep me plenty busy.  When I do have free time, I love trying out new restaurants, traveling, and spending time in the mountains.

I look forward to meeting you and having a good year!
