Welcome to the Newton Mental Health Team Website!

Kristen Lunde, Ed.S., NCSP
School Psychologist

I'm excited to be starting my first year at Newton! Previously, I've worked as school psychologist in Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Austin, TX. My role is to support students, teachers, and families through educational assessments, social-emotional learning, and consultations about student needs. I love being part of each student's journey to find their passion and tackle new challenges head-on.

After living in Austin, TX for the past 3 years, I'm thrilled to be back in CO! Outside of school, I spend most of my time reading, gardening, or hiking with my dog.

Susie Swingler, LCSW
Social Worker

Hi! I am the Social Worker here at Newton Middle School.  My role is essentially what most people think about a school counselor doing. I meet with students regarding academics, social, emotional, or any other reasons they need! I am here to support students, parents, and staff. This is my third year at Newton, and I love this school and community! I live with my husband Nick and our lovely dog Lucy. We also welcomed our first child, Theodore (Theo for short) last March! We live in Denver and life is pretty good!

Come visit me in my office (in the main office across from the nurse clinic) and we can chat! I hope everyone has a great school year.

Christina Wu, Ed.S., NCSP
School Psychologist

Hi! I am the part-time School Psychologist at Newton Middle School.  This is my third year at Newton and in LPS.  Previously I worked in Douglas County School District and Jeffco Public Schools.  I am excited to be part of the LPS community and look forward to supporting the students, staff, and families at NMS.  My role is to provide assessment, consultation, and social-emotional support for Special Education students.  When possible, I also support the social-emotional needs of other students in the building as needed.

I live with my husband and two young children, which keep us plenty busy.  When I do have free time, I love trying out new restaurants, traveling, and spending time in the mountains.

I look forward to meeting you and having a good year!
