High School Transition

High school choice form.

Dear Students and Families,

School choice has come a long way since Littleton Academy's first 8th grade class graduated from LA. We've created this page to help students and families navigate the high school transition and will update this space with event flyers and the like as we receive them. There are several steps that students and families can take to understand all of the options available for high school. Should enough high schools desire to participate, Littleton Academy is happy to host an event for our 8th grade students or students and parents.

  • visit the websites of the schools that you are interested in
  • record the dates of the schools' showcase events
  • attend the showcase events
  • learn about the departments that are of particular interest to your student
    • students who are interested in band, for example, should learn about the prospective high schools' band programming
    • students who are interested in higher level math, should learn about the prospective high schools' mathematics options
  • understand the entrance and/or enrollment process for the school you'd like to attend
    • If you choose an in-district school, your Littleton Academy teachers recommend placement for 9th grade classes.
    • If you choose an out of district or private school, our teachers and principals are happy to fill out the recommendation forms required. Please provide at least 10 days' notice and an addressed and stamped envelope to ensure proper return of the documents. Following this procedure shows respect for the time that Littleton Academy teachers spend writing thoughtful recommendations for our students.
    • Prepare for and attend the placement tests at the schools you desire.
    • Learn whom to contact at the high school campus should you have questions about placement and/or schedule after testing and/or recommendation.
  •  Littleton Academy allows two shadow days per student.
