We Believe...

-Children are naturally curious.
-Children learn best through hands-on, multi sensory experiences.
-Play is essential for a child's growth and development.
-Activities should be open-ended and focus on the whole child.
-A child's social/emotional, physical, and intellectual growth is interconnected.
-Learning happens in the process of doing.
-Each child is unique and can set individualized learning goals.
-Children develop at varying rates.
-All children have the right to learn and should have access to meaningful educational experiences.

Philosophy Statement

At Hopkins we are proud to have two preschool classrooms licensed by the State of Colorado. Our licensed program allows us to take children at the age of three. Our program is designed to recognize each child as a unique individual with special gifts ready to be discovered. We promote the development of social, emotional, and academic growth through a variety of age-appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. We prepare children for kindergarten by providing meaningful experiences that enhance optimal growth in social, emotional, and cognitive development in a play-based atmosphere. Our classrooms are staffed with experienced and caring teachers who are continuously seeking further education in the realm of early childhood.

We are excited to announce that the Board of Education approved the Creative Curriculum for all LPS Preschool programs! The Creative Curriculum enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills by using exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Having a common curriculum among will support developmentally appropriate practices throughout our preschools.

We are a play-based curriculum and we incorporate all 8 of the following centers into each theme, based on a whole child approach to learning:

Art, Small Motor, Math, Language/Writing, Blocks, Science,
Music/Circle Time, and Dramatic Play

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
"While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about."
"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today."
"Children have neither past nor future; they enjoy the present, which very few of us do."
"Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you."
