NWEA Parent Resources

Dear Parents and/or Guardians:

At the end of September and beginning of October your child(ren) participated in the Northwest Evaluation Association’s Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment.  Lincoln Park will be using the MAP tests to help determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year.

Students in grades first through tenth grades took a reading and math test. Students in grades fourth and sixth through tenth grades also took the science test.  Students will be using the computer labs and chromebooks to take this test.  Kindergarten will be taking the reading and math assessments twice a year.  Once in November and once in May.  The NWEA Assessments will be given three times during the course of the year for grades 1 through 10th.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s learning.  As a result, each student had the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing.  The primary purpose of this assessment is to assist teachers in planning for instruction to meet the needs of all students.

The NWEA is one of many tools Lincoln Park Public School teachers use to meet the instructional needs of all students.  For more information concerning the assessment please view the Parent Resources or the Parent Toolkit.
