Hello new 3rd grade students and families! My name is Mrs. Eason and I am so excited that your child is a part of my 3rd grade classroom this school year! We are going to have a fabulous year full of tons of learning and fun!
Well, a little bit more about me!!! This is my third year at Lake Park Elementary School and my fifth year teaching in 3rd grade. Besides teaching, I also have over 15 years experience working with kids from coaching both high school and middle school basketball and volleyball.  I am also the head coach for the Girls on the Run program here at Lake Park Elementary.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, where I also played 4 years of collegiate basketball. Go Cavaliers! I also, received my Masters in Teaching from Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Georgia.
I am originally from St. Paul, Oregon a very small farming and rodeo town in Oregon, but have called South Georgia my home for the past 14 years.  I also, have three amazing children.  Hayden my oldest is a second grader this year at LPE and will light up a room with his sweet smile and curls.  My daughter Cadence just turned 3 and is my special little princess and one busy bee!  Last, my littlest Walker will turn two this fall!  He has the most sweetest smile and is just a happy, happy little boy! When I am not busy teaching and with my sweet students, I love spending time with my family or friends.  I also, love to paint and create and stay very active with my church family at First Baptist Church of Lake Park.
Here are just a few more of Mrs. Eason's favorite things; coffee, chocolate, basketball, Mexican food, painting, drawing, creating, watching movies, Oregon Ducks, spending time with my family, Crossfit, and anything outdoors!!!  I am so excited about this new school year and can't wait to get to know all my sweet kids and their families!!

Going for the goal!

Each student will be working toward achieving their AR goal every nine weeks.  Each morning between 7:40-8:15 I will be working individually with students on reading and also allowing them to read independently, take AR tests, and go to the library. This will be the ideal time for your child to achieve their AR goal. Help them be more prepared by making sure they have read and reviewed their books the night before and are ready to take a test when they come in each morning!!

Girls on the Run of LPE is an after-school running program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls.  This is the second year for LPE Girls on the Run, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential to pursue her dreams!! The LPE GOTR meets in the fall beginning in August.  We meet twice a week within a small team.  Our certified coaches help teach life skills through dynamic and interactive lessons and running games.
Running is used to inspire and motivated girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment.  At the end of our season, our girl's and their running buddies complete a 5K race.  The result for our GOTR girl's-making the seemingly impossible, possible, and teaching girls that they can!!

Your child's burgundy Monday folder will be sent home with them every Monday. It will contain important papers, graded tests and assignments, their weekly behavior log, AR updates, and comments from Mrs. Pettigrew and I. Please sign on the line of the date it is given out. This let's us know that you have reviewed everything in their folder.

It's all in the details...more important facts about your child's Monday folder!!
Your Monday folder contains two sides.
~The left side will contain your child's weekly behavior log and AR updates.  It will also contain any papers that need to be signed, reviewed, and returned back to the school.
~ The right side of the folder will contain school flyers, announcements, graded tests and assignments.  These items should be taken out each week to keep at home.
**Please return your child's Monday folder back to class on Tuesday of each week! Thank you for your support!**

Homework will only be given out on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We will not have any homework on Wednesdays or Fridays!! Homework given will be related to helping build your child's Reading and Math fluency, as well as study guides that will help them prepare for any upcoming classroom tests. Although, we do encourage students to study and read nightly.

STUDENT AGENDA BOOKS
In third grade students begin to use a student agenda book.  Each day your child will write down homework, tests, or assignments in their student agenda book, which is located in the front of their three-ringed notebook.
Although, we are working on teaching our students to become independent in order to prepare them for 4th and 5th grade, it's still very important for you to review your child's agenda book and binder daily for homework, assignments, test updates, or notes from me. Their binder will also include their weekly Reading log (see Accelerated Reading Section for more information) and study guides.
Please be sure to keep your child's agenda book and study guides in their binder, as we will be using daily in the classroom.
If you ever have any questions about classroom assignments, tests, homework, or anything feel free to contact me!! I am available during school hours at the school via telephone and email. I am also available after hours via email. I will do my best to get back to as soon as possible!!
