Academic Coach

A little about me, Michelle Lipscomb...

I was born in the beautiful hills of West Virginia and moved to Moultrie, Georgia when I was fifteen years old.  There, I attended Colquitt County High School and went on to graduate third in my class.

I had known for quite some time that I wanted to become a teacher, but couldn't quite decide in just what area I wanted to specialize due to the fact that I love learning just about anything!  So, I continued  my education at Valdosta State College and decided to major in early childhood education so that I could teach a little of everything!!  In 1991 I graduated Magna Cum Laude and, a few months later, began my first teaching assignment at Cox Elementary in Moultrie.  There, I taught second through fifth grade students Chapter I reading and math for two years, then fifth grade (all subjects) for five more years.  While teaching at Cox, I went on to earn my Master's degree in early childhood education from Valdosta State University.

In 1997,  I moved to Lowndes County and was fortunate to obtain a position with the Lowndes County School System at Moulton-Branch Elementary.  I once again worked with grades 2-5 with reading and math skills for two years and then taught fifth grade for six more years.  During my years  at MBE, I also obtained my endorsement to teach gifted and talented students.
I transferred to Hahira Elementary in 2006 and taught third grade for two years.  Then I once again began teaching my true calling, fifth grade. This is the ninth year I've taught fifth grade at HES and my 26th year as an educator!
( My, how time does fly!)  Hahira Elementary is where I hope to stay for the duration of my career; I could not ask for a better school or community in which to teach!
