About Mr. Rios

Room 213

Welcome!  My name is Rafael Rios; I graduated from Texas A & M International University with a Masters Degree in English Language Arts in 2003.   I will be completing my eighteenth year teaching this year.  I have taught writing skills,  American and World Literature to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at J.W. Nixon High School in Laredo, Texas. I have also taught  American and British Literature for eleven years at Lockhart High School.  I was also an Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College for two years where I taught English 1301 and 1302.  I am happy to be your teacher this year.
If you need additional help understanding concepts
covered in class, I will be available for tutorials Wednesday through Friday in the morning from 8:15-8:40 and after school from 4:25 to 4:45.
Some of my favorite books are: The Catcher in the Rye, written by J.D. Salinger, A Salty Piece of Land, by Jimmy Buffet, and The King of Torts, by John Grisham; my favorite movie is Good Will Hunting.  When I am not grading papers, reading, or traveling, I enjoy writing.
