I grew up in San Marcos , TX. I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1980 with a double major of English and Psychology. During my first two years of college, I was a member of the Texas State Strutter dance line. Throughout college I worked different jobs. The most interesting, however was being an underwater performer at the former tourist attraction, Aquarena Springs. I swam for seven years and met many wonderful friends while earning tuition money.
I began teaching at Lockhart High School in the fall of 1984. Lockhart is a wonderful, friendly town with a strong sense of community. I have had the privilege of seeing many, many Lockhart High School graduates go on to make positive changes in our world!
I am married to Bill Whitbeck, who plays bass guitar for Robert Earl Keen. We have two children. My husband holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education (SWT) with a History major and English minor.
I pledge to work hard for you and set lofty, attainable goals, so that we can all celebrate our success stories in May! I believe all people are inherently good and that each of is blessed with talent and special gifts. Let's enjoy a stellar year together.
