The Lockhart ISD digital citizenship curriculum is adapted from Common Sense Media and includes the following expectations:
CIPA Law: The Federal Communications Commission’s Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was enacted to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet. Schools must provide for educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response. Lockhart ISD receives federal E-rate discounts for Internet service.
District Policy: Lockhart ISD Technology Acceptable Use Policy also states that staff will conduct annual Internet safety training for students which includes reviewing the Student Technology Usage Agreement.
