About Mrs. Newsom
Beth Newsom is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University where she received her Bachelors degree in Vocal Music Educatiion.  She has directed choirs in Lockhart ISD for over 20 years.  During that time the choirs have performed at numerous concerts, contests, and community performances.  Mrs. Newsom enjoys helping her students succeed.  Some of the highlights of those successes have been having students advance to the Region Choir (and recently the All-State Choir) in the TMEA Choir Auditions, having multiple students receive superior ratings at both the Regional and State levels of UIL Solo and Ensemble, as well as having the privilege to direct choirs who earned superior ratings on stage in UIL Concert and Sightreading competitions.  This year is her second year to teach piano classes at the High School.  Most of all, though, she enjoys teaching high school students and instilling in them a love for music and learning in addition to helping them learn how to live meaningful, fulfilled lives.  Mrs. Newsom lives in Luling with her husband, two children, her mother, a chicken-eating and kitten-killing black lab, a flock of chickens, and four cats.
