About Mr. Dansby… 

Mr. Dansby was raised in Pebble Beach, California and attended Palma High School in Salinas (2 hours north of San Luis Obispo) where he was three-time state qualifier and two-time state placer in wrestling. He was named a high school All-American in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling before attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Mr. Dansby was the first in his family to attend a University. 

As a Cal Poly Mustang wrestler, from 1988 through 1993, Dansby was a two-time NCAA qualifier and PAC 10 finalist at 118 pounds. He served as team captain, and became the Mustang's assistant coach from 1994 through 1997. Dansby helped coach the Mustangs while concurrently finishing his Master of Science in Kinesiology, and single subject teaching credential in Physical Education. While attending Cal Poly he was named outstanding Physical Education student of the year. Dansby went on to teach Physical Education at Gavilan View Middle School in Salinas and became the head wrestling coach of Palma High, his alma mater. He led Palma to a league championship and their highest finish in section. 

Throughout coaching, teaching and finishing his education, Dansby continued to wrestle nationally and internationally. He completed three U.S. Olympic Festivals and took the honors of a silver and two bronze medals. Dansby has been ranked nationally in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. He has qualified for three Olympic trials, in 1992, 1996 and 2000, and has been a former U.S. National team member. Dansby also competed for the Dave Schultz Wrestling Club. 

Mr. Dansby in his 13th year of teaching Physical Education at Mesa Middle School and serves as Mesa’s Athletic Director, Intramurals Coordinator, Cross Country, Boys Volleyball, Track and Wrestling Coach. His hobbies are running, lifting weights, golfing, reading and learning new things.
