Welcome to eighth grade English Language Arts (ELA)!

I’m looking forward to working with you this year!  This is my 16th year of teaching, and I am so, so grateful to be able to work daily with students who are creative and excited to learn.

This year, we will be exploring themes around The Human Condition: Looking Beyond Yourself. We will be reading several different genres, working closely to make connections with Social Studies, and writing in multiple formats, with an additional focus on listening skills, as well as other unique strategies that will help our eighth graders to achieve success. I’m hoping that exposure to several different texts and writing pieces will open your world a bit and help you to express yourself freely and clearly.

You will need a binder with three dividers, earbuds, a spiral notebook, loose-leaf paper, and pens and pencils for class each day.

Extra Help/ Parent Contact

You are encouraged to ask for help when needed.  Late buses are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I will post my after school availability on the board each week. Also,my website will list all  assignments and class information.

Parents are also encouraged to call me at any time with their questions and / or concerns.   I truly believe student success is greatly increased when there is an open line of communication between parent and teacher.  Additionally, I truly believe this year will be a wonderful journey for all involved.
