  1. Early Graduation Request: The District is in receipt of an Early Graduation Request to the Board of Education. The student and their parent will be in attendance, along with High School Principal Mr. Bird.

  2. Wisconsin Public Education Network Summer Summit:   Board President Verhagen will brief the Board members on the summit he attended on August 1st at Appleton North High School.

  3. Board Comments on Public Forum from July 16. The Board will discuss comments and feedback about the petition presented and letters  submitted at last month’s Board meeting.


  1. First Reading - Policy 723.2 Threats of School Violence: Act 143 (signed into law in Spring 2018) requires every school employee to report to local law enforcement if the person believes in good faith, based on a threat made by an individual seen in the course of professional duties regarding violence in or targeted at a school, that there is a serious and imminent threat to the health or safety of a student or school employee or the public. For the first reading tonight is a proposed draft policy 732.2 Threats of School Violence.

  2. Second Reading Public Participation Policy 187 - Public Participation at Board and Committee Meetings.  Attached for your review is revised Board Policy 187 for the second reading. Approval will be sought this evening.


  1. Handbooks 2018-19: Included for your review are staff handbooks for the 2018-19 School year. Changes to last year's handbooks are indicated in red.

Administrative Reports Finalization of Format for 2018-19:  Last spring the Board approved my recommendation regarding building principal monthly presentations.  As we begin the 2018-19 school year the following process will be followed by building principals regarding their monthly Board reports:

  1. Report form ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and PLC (Professional Learning Communities) Conferences: LCASD administrators and educators attended the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Conference & the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work Institute.  Upon returning, participants were asked to share their top takeaways: ISTE & PLC Conferences.

  2. August, 2018 Professional Development Schedule: More information about the District’s Professional Development plans for Aug 20-21, 23, & 28-30 is included here.


  1. Summary from Buildings Grounds & Energy Committee Meeting August 1, 2018 (Building Project Update). Tonight we will discuss the progress at the Intermediate/Middle/High School. At the link, please find notes from the most recent of the Buildings & Grounds Committee.

  2. Job Descriptions/District Office - As the District is finalizing the hire for School District Receptionist, support staff job descriptions in the District Office were revised. We will be asking for approval this evening.

  3. Parent Transportation Contracts for Private School:  In accordance with Wisconsin Statutes 121.54.55(1) the Little Chute Area School District is responsible for the transportation of pupils who reside within the District and attend a private school located 2 miles or more from the pupil’s residence, if the private school is located within our District or not more than 5 miles from the boundaries of our District. Tonight Business Manager Karen Moore will be sharing information with the Board regarding four families that meet the criteria above and will have enrolled their children into Celebration Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

  1. Regional Meeting Workshop: How to Plan and Conduct Effective School Board Meetings

Meeting 2019-2020 Legislative Session Preview
At this fall’s Regional Meetings, the WASB Government Relations staff will provide a preview of what may be coming in the 2019-2020 legislative session. In addition to a new biennial state budget, state lawmakers likely will be debating recommendations from the Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding and educational savings accounts (“mini-vouchers”) as well as school safety and security measures that address student mental health and federal recommendations for safety belts on school buses.

  1. Special Board meeting for Preliminary Budget:  As in the past, administratively, we are recommending a special Board meeting for the review of the 2018-19 preliminary budget. Administratively, we are recommending Tuesday, September 18th 4:30 pm for the Preliminary Budget Board meeting.

  1. Checks For Payment: We are asking for approval of check numbers 78952-79046 and EFT disbursements in the total amount of $653,957.66


  1. Early Graduation Request: Administratively, we are recommending approval as presented.

  2. Public Participation Policy: Administratively, we are seeking approval of the second reading, as presented.

  3. 2018-19 Employee Handbooks:  Administratively, we asking for Board approval regarding the 2018-19 Employee Handbooks.

 

  1. Job Descriptions:  As presented, we are seeking Board approval on the updated job descriptions.

  2. Parent Transportation Contracts for Private School: Administratively, we are seeking Board approval as presented for the cost of transportation to a private school.


  1. Resignation: We are in receipt of a letter of resignation from Fifth Grade Teacher Scott Vanderloop. We recommend accepting his resignation with regret, pending payment of $800 for breach of contract.

  1. Schedule Special Board meeting for Preliminary Budget:  Administratively, we are recommending Tuesday, September 18, at 4:30 pm for a special Board meeting for the review of the 2018-19 preliminary budget.


  1. Closed Session
    The Board will entertain a motion to convene into executive session, pursuant to the provisions of Section 19.85(1)(c) Wisconsin State Statutes, for the purpose of considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
