The mission of the Little Chute Area School District is dedicated to fostering a community of learners where we meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of ALL students.

    Superintendent Botz will initiate the Election for President. Once elected, the President will proceed and initiate the election of Vice President, Clerk, and Treasurer.

  9. Communications:

  1. Extended Field Trip for Destination Imagination Globals: High School Principal Tony Bird and Destination Imagination Advisor Jeff Greuel will present the request for an extended field trip for Destination Imagination Globals. For your review I have included Board Policy 350 and Rule.

  2. FBLA National Leadership/Conference Competition: FBLA has six national qualifiers this year. FBLA is requesting some funding portion of the trip. In the past, the Board of Education has approved funding for the individual who wins the state championship. Following that precedent, $885.83 would need to be allocated. Information is provided at this link. For your review I have included Board Policy 350 and Rule.

  3. Administrative Reports: Administrators will be in attendance to present their reports for the month. Mr. Krizan will present his report at the next meeting, an update of the ISN (Innovative Schools Network) Conference he recently attended.

  1. Committee Assignments for the 2017-18 School Year There are several Board committees that need representation. The committees, and member names from last term, are listed below:

  1. 2017-18 CESA 6 Representative - Discussion: School boards have a statutory duty to appoint a CESA Representative for the annual delegate assembly meeting. Last Year’s representative was Bill Peerenboom.This year CESA 6 will conduct their next delegate assembly meeting at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the CESA Conference Center located at 2300 State Road 44 - Oshkosh, WI.


  1. 2017-18 WASB Delegate - Discussion: The Board will have to appoint a delegate to the Wisconsin Association of School boards for 2017-18. Representing the Board for the 2016-17 school year was Leon Biesterveld.


  1. Update on Career Pathways Breakfast: President Verhagen and I will give an update about the Career Pathways breakfast that was held on April 13.


  1. Upcoming Dates for Senior Class Activities: The Board of Education is invited to:

  • Senior Scholarship Banquet at Liberty Hall on Wednesday, May 17 at 6:15 pm.

  • Senior Luncheon -Friday, May 26: at Liberty Hall at 11:15 am

  • Commencement - Friday, May 26, Fieldhouse at 7:00 pm


  1. Administrator Letters of Intent to Accept Contract Extension: Section 118.42(6) of Wisconsin State Statutes requires administrators to notify the Board of their intent to extend their contracts. Included with your materials are administrator letters asking for extension of their contracts.


  1. Update on Building Project - Tonight I will be updating the Board about the initial stages of the planning project at the Intermediate/Middle/High School. Members of the Administrative Team have had two preliminary meetings with Miron Construction and Bray Architects to discuss design concepts with the addition and defining those spaces; and the calendar for touring other recently updated schools to examine lay-out and flow. A Buildings, Grounds & Energy meeting will be convened next Wednesday, April 26 to discuss the location of the District Office and Flex Academy, traffic flow, and parking lot design.


  1. Spring Academy Workshop: Board members are invited to WASB’s Spring Academy Workshop. The agenda item this year is Roles and Responsibilities of School boards. The CESA 6 meeting takes place on Tuesday, May 16. If desired, Board members can attend meetings at other CESA’s. Please see this link for alternate locations. Please let Melissa know by May 2nd if you would like to attend.

  2. Letters of Resignation, Conclusion of 2016-17 School Year:

    1. School Psychologist Molly Larson has submitted her letter of resignation, effective at the end of this school year.

    2. Fifth Grade Teacher Shelby Thomson has submitted her letter of resignation, effective at the end of this school year.


  1. District Finances:

  1. Bills and Claims: A listing of bills and claims is included here. As always, Karen and I are available at your convenience to answer any questions.

  1. Action:

  1. Checks for Payment: We are asking for approval of check numbers 75898-76002 and EFT disbursements in the total amount of $422,734.63.

  2. Extended Field Trip for Destination Imagination Globals: In accordance with Board Policy 350 (Field Trips, Extra-Curricular Trips & Excursions) and Rule 1, administratively, we are recommending, as presented, that the LCHS Destination Imagination Team attends Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee, adhering to Board Policy 350 and Rule.

  3. FBLA National Leadership/Conference Competition - Funding: Administratively, we are recommending Board approval for the FBLA students listed to attend the National Leadership Conference Trip in Anaheim, CA. As per Policy 350, Rule 1, we are recommending that the Board fund $885.83  in support of Carson Mara (First place finisher in Journalism).

  4. Set Committee Assignments: The Board will need to appoint membership to the following committees:

  • Buildings, Grounds, and Energy

  • Negotiations Committee

  • Board Policy Review Committee

  • Technology Task Force

  • Extra-curricular

  3. Administrator Letters of Intent to Accept Contract Extension: Administratively, we are recommending acceptance of the letters, as presented.

  4. Letters of Resignation: Administratively we are  recommending acceptance, with regret,  of the following letters, effective at the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year

    1. Molly Larson, school psychologist

    2. Shelby Thomson, fifth grade teacher

  5. Donation: The family of Marge Wippich has generously donated $3200 in her memory to Little Chute Elementary school to facilitate literacy. Mrs. Wippich was a teacher at Little Chute Elementary School from 1975-1996.

  1. Motion to Convene in Closed Session
    The Board will entertain a motion to convene into executive session, pursuant to the provisions of Section 19.85(1)(c) Wisconsin State Statutes, for the purpose of considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
