What We Believe

For Mennonites this painting is an image of following Christ.  Dirk Williams was being pursued by the person who fell into the ice, to be put on trial and executed for being an Anabaptist  (16th century Anabaptist are the spiritual parents of the Mennonites).  Dirk rescued his enemy though it meant he would be executed for his faith.

This is a tradition rooted in:

           - nonviolence as a practice of Jesus' call to love our enemies.

            - mutual brother and sisterhood that highlights service and love                 for one another and the world around us.

            - faith to be a life of commitment to Christ's teachings.

            - simplicity in our daily lives that doesn't abuse or overly consume             the resources of God's Creation.
