Making a Good College Choice Can Lead to a Better Career!

LaunchMyCareerTX.org is an interactive website that helps people find college programs of value to them by letting them see the expected financial return on their choice of college and major as well as the personal and professional satisfaction that accompanies different courses of study.

LaunchMyCareerTX.org provides information on certificates and degree programs at public colleges in Texas, including how much graduates of each program earn and how much those graduates spent on their education.

There are four different paths through LaunchMyCareerTX:  institution search so students can brown majors offered at selected institutions;  major search so students who already selected a major can browse institutions that offer it; endorsement search so students who know what endorsement they are seeking can browse related jobs and then select a related major and institution; and occupation/job search so students who know what job they want can browse the majors that often lead to that job and then select an institution offering that major.

Other resources for determining post-secondary education:

www.Texasrealitycheck.com gives students an idea what salary they need for their chosen lifestyle;

www.Texasgenuine.org offers an assessment test for skills and interest toward careers and technical programs;

www.bls.gov.k12 has statistics for students on the economy and job market nationwide and locally.
