About Music Class

Our students in District 27 receive fundamental music instruction from Kindergarten through 5th grade providing them the necessary skills to continue musical studies through Junior High on into High School and beyond.
Through vocal studies, our students are taught to recognize and recreate pitches and chords as well as proper singing technique and the use of proper diction.Through movement and the use of rhythm instruments, students use gross motor skills to learn about rhythm and form. Rhythm instruments also provide an excellent opportunity to incorporate multicultural studies by exposing the students to "World Music".
Lastly, through guided instruction and the use of technology, students receive lessons in reading notation, improvisation, and simple composition. It is our goal to give our students solid cultural foundation that they can build on for the rest of their lives.
