Grade 5 Graduation will take place on Thursday, May 26 at 8:30 a.m. in the Likelike School Cafeteria. Come join us as we celebrate with our departing fifth graders.
Congratulations to all you students, who received awards, recognition for your service and accomplishments!!! Mai Ka'i, we thank you for your contributions to making Likelike Elementary a better place.
The Likelike School's May Day was a wonderful time to honor our Hawaiian culture and enjoy the efforts of our students and teachers!! We even received the blessing of some cooling rain showers.
We say good-bye to the following teachers and staff members:
Mr. Harvey Nakano - retiring after 29 years at Likelike and a total of 37+ years with the DOE.
Mrs. Cherisse Yamada - going to Kaewai Elementary to work as the Curriculum Coordinator.
Mrs. Charisse Perez - going to teach at Blanche Pope Elementary and to get closer to home.
Ms. Lisa Shimabukuro - going to teach at Kaimiloa Elementary and to get much closer to home.
Mrs. Jenna Valbuena - going to teach at Kaewai Elementary.
Mrs. Hinano Aoki - going to teach at Kamehameha School.
Ms. Kelli Morihara - moving to Las Vegas to get married and teach. Best wishes for a happy marriage and career.
Cynthia Lauren - retiring to a life in Las Vegas with her husband and to be closer to family.

21st CCLC Summer Enrichment Program

SBAC State Testing: We are done!! Now we wait for all the results.
We will be doing Jump Rope for Heart on Friday, May 20, after May Day. Fundraiser envelopes were due back on May 6. As in the past, students can earn prizes based on the money they raise.

Aloha 'oe Makua Aulani, our Hawaiiana kumu. Your time with us was too short. We will miss you, a hui hou kakou! Mahalo for preparing the video of the hula dances for each grade level, so they can prepare for our May Day Program on May 20.
Through a partnership with HPD and muralist John "Prime" Hina, Likelike Elementary has been blessed with 3 murals. The first mural is of Princess Likelike overlooking the school, the second mural will be a Genealogy mural spanning across the bridge connecting the teachers to the students. The third and final mural will be a school wide effort creating a mural of an ahupua'a. The artist behind the work is John "Prime" Hina, he is a well known muralists famous for his work done with 808 Urban, Pow Wow Hawai'i and one of his current pieces of the mural of Queen Lili'uokalani near Hawaii Community College. Every staff member and student that is a part of Likelike put their mana into the mural.

Likelike Elementary School Polices and Procedures
Start / Dismissal Times:
School begins at 8:00 am and the tardy bell will ring at 8:05 am. All students who are tardy need to report to the office for a tardy slip. This procedure is to make sure that all students are accounted for at school.
School ends at 2:15 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 1:00 pm on Wednesdays.
The Hawaii Revised statutes, Sec. 302A-1131, Public Schools; Attendance, Act 76 of 2014, requires a child who is 5 yrs. of age by July 31 and not yet eighteen on or before December 31, of any school year, to attend either a public or private school unless properly excused from school. more...
