SBAC State Testing:  We continue on Monday, May 2 with mathematics for grade 5.  Great job to all you students, who came to school on time and did your best, on the test!  Check the Calendar at the top of the Navigation Menu on the left, for the dates for each grade and the subject being tested.

We will be doing Jump Rope for Heart this May.  The kick-off assembly with Meadow Gold and the Jump Rope for Heart Team was on Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00 in the cafeteria.  They explained what students must know about keeping their hearts healthy and gave away free milk to each student.  Fundraiser envelopes will also go home on Tuesday and will be due back by May 6.  As in the past, students can earn prizes based on the money they raise.  The Jump Rope for Heart event, here at Likelike School, takes place after May Day on Friday May 20.

Mahalo to Kumu, Monica Won for your aloha and commitment to our Likelike students!  You will be fondly remembered by all of us, who were fortunate enough to work with you.  Thank you to your husband, Mr. Kevin Mulligan, and family for designating donations be made to Likelike Elementary to honor your passing.  We continue to benefit from Monica and her family's kindness.  Thanks to Mrs. Won, Monica Won's mom, for dropping off more donations, honoring her!

Aloha 'oe Makua Aulani, our Hawaiiana kumu.  Your time with us was too short.  We will miss you, a hui hou kakou!  Mahalo for preparing the video of the hula dances for each grade level, so they can prepare for our May Day Program on May 20.

Through a partnership with HPD and muralist John "Prime" Hina, Likelike Elementary has been blessed with 3 murals.  The first mural is of Princess Likelike overlooking the school, the second mural will be a Genealogy mural spanning across the bridge connecting the teachers to the students.  The third and final mural will be a school wide effort creating a mural of an ahupua'a.  The artist behind the work is John "Prime" Hina, he is a well known muralists famous for his work done with 808 Urban, Pow Wow Hawai'i and one of his current pieces of the mural of Queen Lili'uokalani near Hawaii Community College.  Every staff member and student that is a part of Likelike put their mana into the mural.

The Ned Show (There's a champion in every kid!)
It encouraged students to:
Never give up!
Encourage others!
Do your best!
