Course Guide


Family Learning can help you find out more about how your children learn, whatever their age. Family Learning will advise you on how you can support your children's learning, build on your skills and knowledge and increase your own confidence.


A Family Learning course will help you to:

  • improve your skills in English, maths and speaking and listening
  • find out more about how children learn and how best to support them

Family Learning classes are fun and friendly and benefit the whole family. Family Learning courses are held in local schools, Children's Centre as well as other community venues.
Course are free and childcare places are often available too.

Early Years Foundation Stage Programmes




The Early Years Foundation Stage is how the Government and Early Years Professionals describe the time in your child'e life between birth and age 5

Family Learning courses will help you at this very important stage to:

  • support your children's early years' experience to be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure
  • understand how to support their development and learning needs
  • prepare your children for school as well as preparing them for future learning and success

Key Stage 1 Programmes


Key Stage 1 is taught during years 1 and 2 (Y1 and Y2) of primary school to children aged between 5 and 7 years.


Our Family Learning courses will help you to discover how to support your children's learning in a fun and imaginative way. 

         You will:

  • understand what happens in the classroom
  • know how to support maths, reading, writing, speaking and listening, science, ICT and health
  • make games and activities to play at home

Key Stage 2 Programmes


Key Stage 2 includes Years 3 to 6 and children are between 7 and 11 years old.

Our courses are a fun way of helping you understand how to support your children's learning.


You will:
  •  become familiar with new teaching methods
  • know how to support maths, reading, writing, speaking and listening, ICT, science or health
  • make games and activities to support learning at home

Workshops

Family Learning taster workshops give you an opportunity to sample some of the fun activities you can expect to be part of if you join one of our courses.

You can make new friends, learn new things, improve your maths and English skills and learn how to support your child's learning... so why not come along and find out more!

All of our Family Learning workshops can be adapted to a specific audience e.g. Dads and their children. Here is a sample of what is on offer:
