AP Summer Assignments

Hi there!

In general, when sharing a document, please use this protocol:
<00.YourLastName.Assignment>        The 00 = your class period, i.e., 07 = period 7/8.

If it is in your English folder, it is already shared with me at TFrench@student.Leyden212.org

1. AP Lit Student Information SheetDue by 15 July. Note: I don't know if your English folders for the next school year are available by the due date. If not, please share this Google doc with my student address using this protocol:  <YourLastName.First.studentinfo>.

2. AP English Lit CRJ. Due by the first day of school. Complete this second assignment: read, annotate. and write a critical reading journal on Siddhartha. On the first day of class, you will write an AP-style essay based on the novel. You may use the novel and your CRJ for this task.

3. The "LIST". At the bottom of this page, you will find a link to a compilation of rhetorical devices you need to know for this class. You will be tested on these weekly, beginning with the second week of school (one page per week, cumulative). In addition, #5 from each section summary of your CRJ asks you to identify how the author uses some rhetorical strategy from "The LIST." Please download this or print it, and refer to it as necessary.

4. Lexiphanic Terms. In an effort to make your writing more sophisticated, add two lexiphanic descriptors (per character) from this list to each CRJ. I understand that "lexiphanic" is a somewhat pejorative term... play with me here so that we can increase your vocabulary with these terms.
