WELCOME to Señor Tran's Spanish Class. In our class, we will explore fun and interesting topics that matter to middle schoolers. We'll watch videos, listen to music, read cool articles, and use other real-life materials to help you learn Spanish and discover different Hispanic cultures.
We'll also play board games, card games, video games, act out skits, make short movies, and do lots of other fun activities to help you understand and remember what you learn. Get ready to have fun while learning Spanish!
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS EVERY DAY: Students should come to class every day with the assigned or provided materials as well as the following:
At least 1 pen and 1 pencil.
A pencil eraser.
At least 4 different colored highlighters.
A 3-ring binder (preferably 1 inch thick with soft cover) or a Spanish section in your big binder.
A fully charged Chromebook and ear buds or headphones.
A positive attitude and desire to learn.
KEYS TO SUCCESS: To maximize your potential for success, students should...
...come to class on time.
...have the necessary materials for every class.
...participate and try to be a good language learner.
...NOT use online translation tools to get work done. Online dictionary such as Wordreference.com is acceptable when you need to look up a word.
...ask the teacher for help, come to WIN when necessary, and reassess when necessary.
...believe that "I can do it"
USE OF TARGET LANGUAGE IN CLASS: My main goal is to help students feel comfortable using Spanish and grow more proficient through practice. To achieve this, students should actively engage in class by asking and responding to both the teacher and classmates in Spanish. Most importantly, have fun, take academic risks, and learn from mistakes.
HOMEWORK: Homework is meant to help students review and reinforce the day's learning and prepare for the next day's activities. To keep from falling behind, students should complete assignments on time.
Homework assignments and worksheets will be given out in class, and will also be posted in GOOGLE CLASSROOM as back up.
IMPORTANT: Students are encouraged to do the homework to learn, not just to complete a task.
