We're All Over Town!

Providing Affordable Housing In Lexington for over 75 Years

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority of Lexington, Kentucky, has been managing public housing and providing affordable housing opportunities in the Lexington community since 1934. The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority manages more than 1,300 units of public housing, over 2,500 Section 8 vouchers, and offers homeownership opportunities. We continue to create affordable housing initiatives and make them available to individuals and families in need.

Housing Choice Voucher Lottery Selection
The Lexington Housing Authority took pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher program online January 5 - 9, 2015. We received over 4,000 applications. A computer generated random selection was conducted on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Information on who was selected for the waiting list is available through our Application Checker after 02/28/2015.
You will need the following information to be able to check to see if you were selected for the waiting list:
Either your social security number of the confirmation number you receive after submitting your application; and your date of birth.  You must enter this information exactly as it is on your pre-application.
When you enter this information into the Application Checker, you will receive a message notifying you if you have been selected or not.
If you are selected, you will receive a letter once your name comes to the top of the waiting list.  In the near future the Applicant Portal will be available to update your current mailing address and report any changes in household members (adding or deleting).

You may click here to check your lottery results.

Selection Criteria
The lottery selection process chose only 500 applications that were complete and unduplicated.
After placing the eligible pre-applications on the waiting list in the order 1 - 500, the LHA will apply the preferences based on the answer to the questions on the pre-application form when we perform a draw from the waiting list.
What is a Preference?
The LHA has a preference for applicants on the waiting list. If at the time of your pre-application, you are living in other assisted/subsidized permanent housing, then you would move to the bottom of the waiting list. If you do not at the time of your pre-application live in other assisted/subsidized permanent housing, you would have a preference over the applicants that do live in assisted/subsidized housing.
Eligibility and Program Rules
A full explanation of all the eligibility requirements and program rules can be found at LHA’s HCV Administrative Plan. A summary of the requirements are listed below.
