Class Guidance
One of the roles of a School Counselor is to teach Guidance Classes that focus on the development of healthy self esteem and good character.  If your child is in Pre-K, I will visit his/her class at least twice a month while kindergarten classes will have Guidance once a week.  During this class time, we will read books, play with puppets, sing songs, view educational videos, play games and have discussions about developing good character thus becoming the very best we can be.  Each month we will be emphasizing a different character trait (refer to Character Traits by Month and the 6 Pillars of Character).  Beginning in September we will learn about being respectful and responsible.  One universal value we will stress throughout the entire year is the Golden Rule..."Treat Others the Way the Way You Want Them to Treat You." We will also talk about the importance of using good manners at home, school and in the community.  Please ask your child about Guidance Class and his/her time with Mrs. Dunn.  I look forward to getting to know each of our students as I visit their classrooms.
