EARLY COLLEGE INFORMATION
We will begin offering MTC classes on our campus this coming Fall. These classes will be tuition FREE. We will also begin a cohort group of students that will take classes together and complete an Associate Degree by the time they complete their HS diploma. These students will be selected by COMPASS scores, teacher recommendations, and student interviews.
For almost 20 years, Airport HS has sponsored a charity drive each year so that our students can give back to the community. For the last 15 years, we have given the money to Camp Kemo, a summer camp for children with cancer. Last year, Airport was able to send 100 children to summer camp. We are excited to announce that with our communities help, we have raised over $54,000 again this year!
THANK A TEACHER OR STAFF MEMBER
Teachers and other staff members often go without being recognized for things they do that go above and beyond their everyday responsibilities. We have started this link to encourage and allow students, parents, teachers/staff, and community members to share something positive! We will share these at faculty meetings, as well as other times as appropriate. As you complete a "Feather for your Cap" form for a teacher/staff member, you can remain anonymous if you wish! Thank you in advance for taking the time to make a teachers/staff members day!
EAGLE PLUS TIME ~ INTERVENTION
There has been a significant commitment made at Airport High School by every department to guarantee that what students learn in each of our courses is consistent. Modifying essential skills and updating common assessments for each course will always be a work in progress, but it is worthwhile work that will benefit our students. We became clear on “what” skills students must master in each course through our work on essential learning, and now we have updated our intervention time and created a framework for “how” to provide support when students need it. This framework will be a flexible, fluid system that allows each teacher to provide timely, direct and systemic support by the student and by the skill. This change will also allow those students who are doing well in classes to be able to have choice in the enrichment labs they attend! This will allow us to make sure all of our students are learning!
DELAYED START WEDNESDAYS
The tardy bell rings at 9:10. Buses will pick-up 1 hour later than on a normal pick-up day.
