CHARITY DRIVE ~ For almost 20 years, Airport HS has sponsored a charity drive each year so that our students can give back to the community. For the last 15 years, we have given the money to Camp Kemo, a summer camp for children with cancer. Last year, Airport was able to send 100 children to summer camp. We are excited to announce that with our communities help, we have raised over $51,000 again this year!
EARLY COLLEGE INFORMATION
We will begin offering MTC classes on our campus this coming Fall. These classes will be tuition FREE. We will also begin a cohort group of students that will take classes together and complete an Associate Degree by the time they complete their HS diploma. These students will be selected by COMPASS scores, teacher recommendations, and student interviews.
THANK A TEACHER OR STAFF MEMBER
Teachers and other staff members often go without being recognized for things they do that go above and beyond their everyday responsibilities. We have started this link to encourage and allow students, parents, teachers/staff, and community members to share something positive! We will share these at faculty meetings, as well as other times as appropriate. As you complete a "Feather for your Cap" form for a teacher/staff member, you can remain anonymous if you wish! Thank you in advance for taking the time to make a teachers/staff members day!
The main purpose of the Wednesday Intervention Block is to provide a scheduled time during the regular school day to work with students that are struggling or excelling. Many of our students that need additional support are students that ride a bus and therefore do not have a chance to meet with teachers before or after school. Some parents have asked if this means a student has to wait for intervention to get help from a teacher...absolutely NOT! Our teachers are still available and want to address the things students are understanding earlier, rather than later! We also hope to use this time to accelerate the learning for those students that are doing well in class.
In order to help keep our students and staff safe, it is now possible for concerns to be reported anonymously to administrators and guidance counselors. Students, parents, community members, or others may make a report. We know that no one wants to be a "snitch," but we also know that students shouldn't have to decide between being a "snitch" and all of us being in a safe environment. It's now even easier to let us know what is going on. Click HERE for the HOW-TO on reporting an incident.
DELAYED START WEDNESDAYS
The tardy bell rings at 9:10. Buses will pick-up 1 hour later than on a normal pick-up day.
