My name is Michele Smith and I am the drama teacher at Brookland-Cayce High School. I am a SC native from Abbeville, SC. In 2004, I received a degree in Mass Communications and Theatre with an emphasis in Theatre at Lander University. After graduation, I began working in Admissions at my Alma Mater. This career lead me to desire more higher education of my own.

The Masters of Arts in Teaching in Theatre Education program at The University of South Carolina seemed to be the perfect fit for me, because it combined my love for theatre and education. In the summer of 2009, while working with the USC Summer Drama Conservatory I met three students from Saluda River Academy for the Arts in Lexington School District Two. At that point I knew I wanted to work with the students in this district, because they were such talented and creative people!

I did my student teaching at SRAA and was lucky to be hired in May 2009 by Brookland-Cayce! This is my third year as drama teacher, director of the after school drama productions - BRAVO!, and sponsor of the dance club! I stay pretty busy!

I have been married for three years and look forward to many more years together. I love to read, watch TV and movies, spend time with my family and friends, and supporting the arts at any time!
