EEDA – The Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) was passed in 2005 to  promote career development, workforce development, and economic development.  Career Development Facilitators have been placed in all middle and high schools to help with the activities as outlined in the EEDA.   For more information visit
SC DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION EEDA

CAREER DEVELOPMENT involves:

being aware of one's personal goals and values as well as work goals,

continuously learning and applying knowledge to access career options,

taking advantage of work experiences,

taking risks in various career areas through self-assessment,

connecting curriculum (classes) with career awareness and career clusters.

SC INDIVIDUAL GRADUATION PLAN ( IGP) – Using 16 career clusters, students begin learning career awareness at the elementary school level. In middle school, students explore careers to facilitate choosing an area of interest from career clusters.  Throughout high school, an individual graduation plan (IGP) begins a process of connecting class-work with career clusters. The IGP process involves the student, parents/guardians, guidance counselor and the Career Development Facilitator (CDF).
