....So, what type of things can the School Social Worker help with?....
  • Connecting families to local resources in the community (food, housing, special services, utility assistance...etc...)
  • Talking with families that may be experiencing hardship or a family change and need support (life stressors, new sibling, divorce, etc…)
  • Helping families if they have experienced a recent crisis or trauma
  • Working with children who are struggling with social/emotional awareness & coping skills (managing anger, separation anxiety, being a good friend, understanding feelings)
  • Visiting with children who need help with classroom behaviors who could use care and support
  • Providing families with techniques or ideas to help with issues experienced at home
  • Holding family workshops throughout the year
I help parents, students and school staff identify needs that interfere with learning and work to get them the services they need. If there is something specific you need help with, please
don’t hesitate  to reach out to me. No question is too silly to ask. I look forward to getting to know you this year!
