Cowley County, KS: Legacy Regional Community Foundation is pleased to announce a grant award of $69,241 to the SCK Health Foundation (SCKHF). This significant grant was made possible by a generous benevolent gift from Bill and Judy Docking, who designated Legacy Regional Community Foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
"We are incredibly grateful for the foresight and generosity of Bill and Judy Docking," said Yazmin Wood, CEO of Legacy Regional Community Foundation. "Their gift is a testament to how creative and strategic giving can make a real difference in our community. We are honored to be entrusted with their legacy and to partner with the SCK Health Foundation to support vital health initiatives in our region."
This act of giving demonstrates how life insurance can be a powerful and accessible tool for philanthropy. By naming a community foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, individuals can make a substantial impact on causes they care about, often leveraging a relatively small investment into a much larger future gift. This type of planned giving offers donors various tax advantages while ensuring their philanthropic goals are met.
“Bill Docking’s legacy of service and generosity continues to inspire us,” stated SCK Health Foundation Executive Director Pam Crain, “His dedication to Kansas and its people lives on through this gift, which will help strengthen our mission as a rural emergency hospital – to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to every patient who walks through our doors.”This grant highlights the important role that both planned giving and community foundations play in creating sustainable support for local organizations. It serves as an example of how individuals can leave a lasting legacy through thoughtful financial planning.
The grant will be used by the SCK Health Foundation to support its mission of enhancing healthcare services and promoting wellness in the community. The specifics of how the funds will be used will be announced by the SCK Health Foundation at a later date.
