Uniform Wear and Grading

Uniform Grading Criteria (from LCHS NJROTC Unit Handbook)

c. Uniform Inspection.  Once each week all students will be graded on uniform appearance.  The uniform grades will be averaged for the nine weeks grading period. Uniform inspection grades will be apart of your Military Bearing and Aptitude Grade which counts 50% of your overall grade.  The uniform requirements can be found in  the Cadet Field Manual.

(1). The following grading criteria will be utilized during personnel inspections:

        Grade Numeric

                    Outstanding 100                    Excellent  90                    Good  80                    Satisfactory  70                    Un-Satisfactory  60 first year cadets / 50 returning cadets                    Not in uniform    0

(a).  No uniform worn - Receive a grade of "0" ZERO, however, this grade may be partially made up with a maximum score of UNSAT attainable – (60% for NS-1 and 50% for NS-2/3/4 @ Instructors discretion). If a cadet changes out of uniform before the end of the school day, with the exception of prior permission for certain classes, the cadet’s grade will be changed to a ZERO.

(b). Incomplete uniform, unsatisfactory haircut or hairstyle, not shaved (males) – receive an UNSAT (60% for NS-1 and 50% for NS-2/3/4) for the inspection.

(c).  Complete Uniform worn for the entire school day - Base Score is a SAT (70%) with the grade adjusting up or down depending on the smartness and cleanliness of the uniform and the person.  As an example; a person with a clean-shaven face, good haircut, pressed uniform, shined shoes, clean garrison cap cover would in all probability receive upwards of Excellent (90%) to Outstanding (100%).  In contrast, an uncared for uniform with wrinkled or dirty shirt/blouse, trousers/slacks and cover, unshaven face, unshined shoes, wearing white socks, etc. will receive an UNSAT.

(d). Absent on uniform day (Excused Absence) - DO, REPEAT, DO have to be made up on the next day of school attended unless excused by SNSI or NSI.

(e). Extra Credit may be earned by wearing the uniform to class on days other than the prescribed uniform day.  One point per each day is earned and will be added to the overall average uniform grade for the current grading period.  This must be coordinated ahead of time with the cadet’s instructor.
