I am your new First Grade Teacher and I am very excited for the opportunity to teach your child. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with lots of sunshine and fun. I am looking forward to meeting all the new families joining our classroom community. It’s going to be a wonderful year! I have planned many interesting projects and activities, which will encourage exploration and discovery and help your child to read, write, and solve problems across the curriculum.
Our mission as teachers is to creatively engage our students and maximize their potential while developing good work habits and a sense of pride in their learning. I hope we can work together as a team to make this year a fun and rewarding experience for your child.
Throughout the year, communication between home and school will be imperative for your child’s success. Each night, I will be sending home a School-to- Home folder to make it easy for the students to keep track of projects, books and important parent information. Please make sure to return this folder to school each day. Feel free to contact me through email, by telephone (908) 832-9504 ext. 108, or by dropping us a note if you ever have a question or matter of concern. Likewise, I will be sure to keep you informed of your child’s progress through emails, phone calls, notes, conferences, and progress reports.
Please remember to bring a snack on the first day of school. Lunch is at 11:50 so we will have a small morning snack every day. We often snack during work time so please bring in a simple snack such as fruit, crackers or pretzels. Water bottles may also be sent in. Please make sure they have secured flip tops so there aren’t any backpack spills. Room temperature water always works better in the classroom. When the water bottles “sweat” from being too cold, it can get all over their classwork.
I have included our special schedule. This will help you remember which days to send your child with sneakers.
We are going to have a wonderful and exciting year together at Valley View Elementary School!
Sincerely,
Mr. Glenn Brennen
