*Meet Ms. Ali*
Welcome to a new year at The Learning Choice Academy! I am so excited to embark on my third year as a teacher at this incredible school and to teach Middle School Science to grades 6-8!!! I have a passion for science, travel, and the great outdoors and look forward to sharing my many passions with my students! I grew up in San Diego and attended high school at Scripps Ranch High School. After high school, I moved to San Luis Obispo and studied Biological Sciences at Cal Poly State University. I fell in love with the town of San Luis Obispo and decided to stay longer and go back to school for my teaching credential at Cal Poly.

My teaching career has been filled with adventure! My first full-time teaching position was as a Peace Corps Volunteer living and teaching in a small, rural village in Namibia, Africa for two years. While in Namibia, I taught Physical Science and Life Science and helped with numerous school and community development projects. I lived with a host family in Namibia on a traditional homestead without running water or electricity. This was an amazing experience and forever changed my level of appreciation for the simple things in life. Upon returning to the United States, I finally came back to my hometown of San Diego and began teaching high school Biology at a local charter school. Most recently, I was teaching 6th grade Math and Science at a local project-based charter school.

I am also a wife and a mom of 3-year-old twin daughters and a 5-year-old daughter. For the twins’ first two years I was home enjoying time with my three daughters. Since returning to work, I have really enjoyed being back in the classroom, and I feel thankful for the opportunity I have to work with my students and their families at TLC. I look forward to working as a partner with you to help your child excel in Science! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via phone, email, or in person any time in order to make sure that your child is completely supported! I look forward to a wonderful school year!
