Hi everyone, I'm Ms. Bond! I am going into my 13th year of teaching at NPHS, and 17th year of teaching overall. Prior to teaching here, I taught 7th grade at Richmond Middle School in Hanover, NH, 8th grade at E.O. Green JHS in Port Hueneme, and grades 9-12 at Westlake High School. NPHS is by far my favorite school. I feel lucky to be here and I hope you all feel the same way :)

I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. I attended Dartmouth College for my B.A. in English and Franklin Pierce University for my M.Ed in English education. I am credentialed to teach both English and the social sciences. I tutor students outside of school for the SAT/ACT (critical reading and writing/language portions), college essays and applications, IB/AP English (both the language and literature courses), AP Euro and U.S. history, and all skills pertaining to English and the social sciences.

I have lived in Camarillo for the past 11 years. Outside of school, I like to spend time with my family (especially my nephews), reading (big surprise!), walking/hiking, going to concerts (any Swifties out there?), watching basketball (GO KNICKS!), and TRAVELING. Traveling is a great passion of mine. While COVID put a damper on my travel plans for a while, I was able to visit Australia and New Zealand this past summer. My favorite place I have ever visited is Iceland, and I want to visit Japan and South America but have not done so yet.

I am also an avid watcher of movies, documentaries, TV shows- basically everything well-made and engaging that can be found on various streaming services. The best show ever made, in my opinion, is "Better Call Saul".

Being from Brooklyn, I am a natural foodie/pizza critic. I have also been a giant geek my entire life (you can ask my parents) and find interest in many, many areas relating to English and literature, but also history, media, music, technology, science, geography, and current events. So don't be shy about coming to talk to me about anything you have read/seen/done recently that you think I might find interesting. I love to share and swap resources with my students.

In reference to the organization of this website, "General Links" contains links to educational resources such as information on research and citation, as well as links to the online texts of most of the books we will read in class.

There is also a link to the page about the school's writing center, which I coordinate. There, you can find out more about the writing center and what it provides as a resource, where/when it is open, etc.

All other areas have been replaced by content on Canvas.

My goal as a teacher is for all of my students to improve in their reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills in order to walk out of my classroom a more informed, articulate, and literate individual than when they entered it. I believe this is a universally important and very practical goal, and an essential one to meet in the quest to create an intelligent, caring, and active citizenry who will contribute to our world in a positive way!
