SENIOR SUMMIT

Senior Summit 2018

Senior Summit will take place on Wednesday, October 10th while the underclassmen take the PSAT.  This day will be run conference-style, allowing seniors to choose sessions to attend that best meet their needs and interests.  Students will register in advance for sessions through a Google Form.  Any student who does not register by Monday, October 1st at 4:00 PM will be assigned to sessions, which must be adhered to for attendance purposes. 
***NEW THIS YEAR: Seniors will also have the opportunity to take the SAT. Please look for future information regarding this topic.***

2017 Session topics:

College Applications & Counselor Check-In

During this session, you will have the opportunity to work (self-directed) on college applications and have counselors on-hand to answer your questions or just check over things to be sure you're doing it right! This is your chance to get help on anything you need: ordering transcripts, sending test scores, have your essay reviewed, search for scholarships, or just general application questions. Additionally, your counselor wants to check-in with you to see where you are in the process and determine if you need more targeted assistance.

TSI & Pre-Assessment Activity

This is a mandatory session for any student not TSI complete. Students will complete a Pre-Assessment Activity, which is a state-required prerequisite online module that explains the importance of TSI and formatting of the TSI Assessment. Students will also understand the process for registering to take a TSI Assessment offered either at ACC or VRHS.

College Admissions 101

College admissions representatives provide up to the minute guidance on navigating the admissions process.

Eyes on My Essay

Admissions representatives will be on hand to review your college essays and provide unbiased feedback and tips. Bring your laptop and/or hard copies of any essays you have in progress.

Interviewing 101

A community professional will be sharing her insights into interviewing and recruitment. Understand what to expect in a potential interview, what makes a good/bad interview, how to dress, how to prepare, and even how the interviewer might be researching you in advance. Learn how to make a solid, professional impression, whether it's for college admissions, scholarship, honors program, internship, job, or student organization and build your personal brand.

Getting Started on the FAFSA: FSA ID          

Planning to apply for financial aid by filing a FAFSA? Let's get started! In this session, you'll create your FSA ID and get started on your FAFSA application.

Personal Finance 101

Learning to manage your personal finances can be a real struggle, even for many adults. Get tips and advice on how to manage your money and budget, as well as develop a general understanding of what all goes into "personal finances".

ACC Application & Next Steps

For those students planning to enroll at ACC after graduation, whether just for a few credits over the summer or a year or two, you will work through the ACC application and understanding next steps in the enrollment process.

AP Study Hall

Must have 2 or more AP/Dual Credit Courses to participate - Just need time to get caught up on assignments and studying? Sign up for this session for self-directed study time.

COOL Week Orientation

The COOL Week Orientation is MANDATORY for all students who have submitted a COOL Week application. Failure to attend will result in removal from the COOL Week program.

Resumé Workshop

You need a resumé! Whether for your college application, COOL Week, scholarships, internships, jobs, or even college clubs & organizations like sororities & fraternities. Get started on developing your professional resumé by understanding basic resumé guidelines, do's and don'ts, as well as tips to make yours stand out.  YOU MUST BRING YOUR LAPTOP TO THIS SESSION!
