Grades

This year grades will be counted a little different. In the past the grades were given based off of simple participation, this year there will be a little more to it. Cheerleaders are to be seen as leaders in a community, therefore, we are adding community service hours as a grade requirement. If you have any questions about any of the categories below, please feel free to ask.  Below is the criteria for grading:

Activity    Percentage
Participation        50%
Dressed-Out 20%
 Cheers 10%
 Dances 5%
 Community Service 5%

Participation: Students will be present every day and at every event unless they provide a coach with a medical excuse from a doctor. Students will actively engage in all activities; they will use their strengths to help their team. Non-participation will be noted by squad leaders and/or coaches and points will be deducted.

Dressed-Out: Students will dress-out in the attire assigned for the day every day. They will wear the appropriate shirt, shorts, shoes, hair will be in a ponytail and they will have on NO jewelry. Dress will be noted daily by squad leaders and/or coaches and points will be deducted.

Cheers: Evidence of mastery of each cheer, words and motions, will result in full credit for this category.

Dances: Students will learn one dance each six-weeks. Evidence of mastery of the dance will result in full credit for this category.

Community Service: Each six-weeks students will be expected to perform TWO hours of community-service. If they are in another organization that has to have hours they can be used for cheer as well, i.e. RADD/STUCO canned food drive, Green Team, NJHS, AVID. If the student needs help getting hours they need to see a coach before the fourth week of the six-weeks.
