AP Human Geography Unit 1 Videos

Why are we starting Unit 1 with fill-in notes and read along videos?

  • This is a college level class, with a college level textbook. Many students enter the class without the proper note taking skills to be successful. These videos will model note taking skills, organization, and processing for students to strengthen their skills and build confidence and success in the class.
  • Students can work at their own pace, pause the videos, and replay them as needed.
  • Videos will remain up FOREVER :0! This means you can use them throughout the year to review for midterms and the exam.


When do I have to view the video by?

  • Videos should be viewed (and notes completed) by the due date listed on your Unit Check Sheet.
  • For Unit 1, the daily quizzes will be based off of the videos and accompanying fill-in notes. Bring your HARD COPY of the notes (with your name in ink on them) to use on the OPEN NOTES Daily Quizzes.
  • The information presented in the videos (and your Textbook) is the foundation of information you will need to be familiar with in order to understand and participate in the activities we do in class.


What do I need to do with the fill-in notes?

  1. Print a HARD COPY of each set of notes. Make sure to get a free library print card!
  2. Attach in your INB on the appropriate page(s).
  3. Put your name on it in INK on all of your notes.
  4. Follow along with the videos to fill in the blanks. TYPED NOTES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, except with teacher permission.
  5. Bring to class the day of the open notes quiz to use on the quiz.
  6. Process the notes Cornell Note Style to earn a 100% on your Notebook Check Major Grade.


When are my notes due and how will they be graded?

  • Notes will be due at the end of the unit. For Unit 1 this will be the day students take the multiple choice test. For the remaining units this will be the day of the FRQs.
  • Students are welcome to get their notes signed before the due date.
  • Notes will be graded on a points system
    • 1 Point for having notes
    • 2 Points for processing
      • Highlight important concepts and terms
      • Write a summary at the end of your notes addressing the Essential Question(s)
  • I can't see the video and it is due TOMORROW!!!
    • Open the video in a new screen.
    • Listen to the video and follow along with your Cultural Landscape Textbook or PDFs of the reading.
    • You can also download the video, and then play it on your computer.
    • Call a friend and ask them to explain the notes to you.
  • Procrastination is your enemy!
