Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

This is my fifth year teaching! I taught third and fourth grade previously at River Place Elementary. I have a Master's in reading and literacy from Concordia University. I grew up in California where I lived on a 3- acre horse ranch. In 2003 I enlisted into the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. As a Staff Sergeant in the Army I was fully trained in biomedical equipment repair and was a small arms instructor. I finished my Bachelor of Science while on two separate deployments to Iraq. I decided that I had accomplished all that I wanted in the Army and now I am pursuing a life long dream in education. I am a third generation teacher, so it's in my DNA. I am really excited to see what this new school year has in store for us.

My free time is spent reading books, cycling, walking with my dogs, and cooking. Thank you so much for entrusting your child to me. I am looking forward to a terrific year!

The Seven Habits of Happy Kids

This year we will be working on the Seven Habits (+1) of Happy Kids.  Those seven habits are:

1.     Be proactive

2.     Begin with the End in Mind

3.     Put First Things First

4.     Think Win-Win

5.     Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood

6.     Synergize

7.     Sharpen the Saw

8.     Find Your Voice

If you are interested in incorporating these habits in your home, I recommend the book, “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families,” by

Stephen R. Covey.
