This Week’s News!

May 15th-19th- Spelling Test FRIDAY (week 30.) Field Trip is TUESDAY!

Please save the date:  May 26th, 2017 will be student led conferences all day from 8:00--4:00.  Keep in mind that we have specials at  8:55--9:45, recess at 10:25--10:55, and lunch 10:55--11:25. You can come anytime except the times mentioned for specials, recess, and lunch.  Students have been working hard on their Google Presentations to present to you along with their data notebooks.

  • Reading: Students will create art with non-fiction text passages and continue to work on writing summaries.
  • Grammar: Students will review compound words.
  • Writing: Students will be working on a top secret and special writing project. 
  • Math: Unit 8.  
  • Science/Social Studies:  The student will explore patterns, systems, and cycles by investigating physical characteristics and behaviors of organisms, life cycles, and interactions within their habitat. Students will examine how plants and animals depend on each other and their environment for survival.
  • Read Aloud/snack: We are reading Maybe a Fox. (This is my favorite part of the day!)


-UnHomework! Given on Mondays and due the following Monday.
-Read 20 minutes a night! This should be a lifestyle :) 
-Spelling words (We work with spelling words during school, but you are welcome to practice at home if you would like!)

Classroom information:
  • "UnHomework" is given on Monday and due the following Monday. (See more information below.)
  • We have a class fox stuffed animal that gets to go home every Friday with a student! I will email you when it is your child's week to take home.
  • Library day is Wednesday! Make sure your child has their book AT SCHOOL this day. 
  • Your child will be bringing home a book bag in their “Take Home” folder. They can use this book to read for their 20 minutes a night reading “lifestyle!” We do not consider reading homework because we believe reading is a lifestyle. They also got to go to the library this week that they can read. THIS FOLDER SHOULD COME HOME AND RETURN TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY!
  •  Wednesday “Star” folders will come home every Wednesday, and return the next day! Please take out all papers.
  • BIRTHDAYS: You are able to bring a fun treat for the class on your child’s birthday. If your child has a birthday on the weekend, you may bring it before Friday or after on Monday. Please let me know if you are bringing something. We will celebrate at 2:30 so make sure the treats are in the office by then.
