Biography

Ali Carraher, a native of Hillsborough, NJ is thrilled to join us in her first year at Leander High School as an Assistant Director of Bands.  She comes to us from East View High School where she served as an Assistant Director of Bands.  Prior to that, Carraher was the Head Director of Bands at West Windsor-Plainsboro High South near Princeton, NJ for three years.  During her time in West Windsor, Carraher independently managed three concert bands, two jazz ensembles, a competitive marching band, and a chamber ensemble program.  Under her direction, Carraher’s bands received many superior ratings at state and regional concert and marching band festivals and competitions.  Prior to her years in West Windsor, Carraher served as an interim Assistant Director of Bands at her alma mater in Hillsborough, NJ.

Carraher began her drum corps career playing baritone with the Reading Buccaneers in 2008 & 2009 and then with the Cadets in 2010.   Since then, Carraher has served on the visual staff for both the Jersey Surf and Cadets2 Drum and Bugle Corps. Carraher has also been on staff for the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy for the past 7 years leading sessions in leadership, conducting, and marching.

Carraher attended the University of Delaware where she studied saxophone and voice and served as the drum major for the 400 member “Fightin’ Blue Hen” Marching Band for three years.

Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA).

Carraher and her fiancé, Tom, are overjoyed to be a part of the Leander Family!
