Art at FPMS...

This year in Art students will have the opportunity to use a variety of materials to create art works of their own and as part of a team. Each class will meet with me every day for 18 weeks. Projects require imagination and creativity. Our curriculum covers the key components needed to understand and explore art. My lessons are aligned with the criteria of the TEKS for Fine Arts and are designed to help students develop a greater understanding and appreciation for art.

Creativity takes courage! The most important thing for students in Art to remember is that ART IS FUN! Staying on task, trying your best, and following all directions is the best way to be a successful artist!

A Bit About Me...

This is my second year at FPMS and my 6th year in the teaching profession. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Seton Hill University for a bachelor’s degree in Art Education.  I received my first teaching job as an elementary art teacher in Loudoun County, Virginia and have continued to find happiness in my career ever since. My husband and I moved to Texas this past summer with our dog BeBe (both of whom have my heart completely!)

My background specifically is in drawing and painting. Students are my inspiration behind all of the art I create. I recently received my M.A. in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design to expand upon my skills as an artist and illustrator. Throughout this experience, I found a new love for digital art and truly enjoy using these new skills within the art classroom!

I truly find that the large focus in my life is encouraging young artists to develop an appreciation for art.  I hope that my passion for art gives students the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to become successful artists. As Danny Kaye said, "Life is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can." I am looking forward to meeting and working with the students of FPMS!

Please don't hesitate to contact me if necessary! I am always happy to answer any questions or respond to any concerns!      jacqueline.stremple@leanderisd.org
