Welcome to my new website! I will try to keep this site up-to-date for my all my Automotive students and parents . Please check here from time to time to get information on activities in my classroom and shop.
I'll start by giving you a little background on me!
My automotive career started in 1981 where I started in an Apprentice program at a Buick dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was actually going to aircraft mechanics school there, but sometimes your plans change! Since then I have worked in numerous Automotive shops. I am an ASE Master certified Technician and have 20 years experience in the Automotive industry not counting my teaching experience. In 2000 I decided to try teaching , and as-they-say; the rest is history! I began my teaching career at Hereford High School in Hereford, Texas. I taught there for nine years. I have two grown sons that live in the area and a three year old grandson.
I started teaching at Rouse the second year it was open. Our program has continued to grow into a three year program with two instructors. Jim Davis came on board the following year.
We are the only Automotive Program offered in Leander ISD. Our students come from all campuses across the district. There is no transportation offered, so most students are from the closer campuses. We service about 175 students every year. We have an awesome facility with state-of -the-art equipment .
Our goal is to provide students with real-world automotive industry training! Our hopes are that they will have a list of entry level skills that they can carry with them into their first job!
Some of our bragging points include:
          - Strong First-year theory curriculum, including work-skills training
          - Definitive Skills lists for all three years.
          - ASE Student Certification testing for second and third year students
          - Skills USA competition involvment
         - Actual work-based learning experience in-shop for second and third year students
I teach 4- first year classes and 1- Third year class of Senior students.
My Seniors do outside repair work that consists of only Maintenance and Light Repairs. If you would like us to do some work for you, please e-mail me at school. I will post common repairs, pricing and procedures in the near future.
