just landed at Grandview Hills and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing elementary and a part of the Leander ISD.  Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!   It will be a privilege to serve the students, staff and families of this community.  I look forward to meeting each of you!  I wanted to give a little information about myself and invite you to several opportunities for us to meet and get acquainted.

I was born and raised in Iowa on a farm.   I grew up doing chores and working hard.  Fell in love with working with children – Bible School, Swimming Lessons, Softball Coach, 4-H.  Couldn’t imagine a more important way to spend my life.  I went to Iowa State University for both my Bachelors and Masters.  I have taught 4th Grade, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade in three different school districts in Iowa.  I was inspired to go into administration so that I could impact more students and…..remove barriers for teachers so that they could get the best results possible for kids.  I started out as an assistant elementary principal and an assistant superintendent.  It was a great job for 9 years, as I got to see change work specifically at an elementary level and also on a district level.  I then moved to an elementary principal role and have done that for the last 17 years in a building of 730 students and 85 total staff.  My top priority has been and will continue to be “what is best for kids.”  I want to partner with all of you in your children’s educational journey.  My door is always open!

I came to Leander ISD for two reasons – first I had heard, even in Iowa, what an outstanding district Leander was and jumped at the chance to apply when I saw an opening for an elementary principal.  Secondly, I am now 16 hours closer to my grandbabies!  My daughter Taran, and her husband Tad, live in Spring, TX and they have two girls – Aubrey age 2 and Ava 6 months.  My life is complete – I can spoil my babies on the weekend and still continue my mission for kids.   I hope to make Grandview Hills my home for a very long time!

On this page, please find several times that I will make myself available for a "Meet and Greet."  I would love it if you could stop by at one of those times.   I would like to meet you and begin our partnership in learning for your child.  We will have light refreshments and good conversation.  Hope to see you there!
