Welcome to World Cultures
http://classroom.leanderisd.org/users/0977/images/world.gif  Hello Stiles Spartans! I look forward to getting to know each of you this year as we explore many of the cultures that make up our world. Sixth grade Social Studies is called World Cultures and Geography. We will be focusing on the geography, history, governments, economies, and ways of life in the various culture regions of the world. Each six weeks will have its own learning matrix, which will show our learning targets. In addition, each six weeks will have a new knowledge map, which will include the basic facts on which we will build our learning. These will always be available at the beginning of each six weeks on this website and in each student's interactive notebook (INB).

    Welcome Back Powerpoint

  Interactive Notebook

This spiral will become an important part of our course. Guidelines for students' INBs include:
*No pages are to be torn out or used for anything other than what is assigned in SS.
*Each page is numbered, and a table of contents is kept.
*No papers should be loose or hanging out the sides.
Lots of color and creativity will go into our INB's. Students will bring them home from time to time to show parents and to study for their quizzes and tests..
It is important that this spiral is brought to class each day, along with scissors, glue, and colored pencils.

Help us Collect
As part of our community service to Stiles we are collecting Box Tops. The school receives 10 cents for each one brought in. That money could really add up if everyone pitched in! We learned that 1 elem. school actually raised $3000.

6th Grade Social Studies classes are also collecting Coke tabs. This raises money for
the Ronald McDonald House.

Finally, the animal shelter near Wiley MS is in need of donations for kittens and puppies. They have specifically requested pate rather than dry dog food.
