Welcome to the H&S Unit corporate website produced specifically for Schools (and other Services) signed up to the Portsmouth City Council Traded Service Agreement.


This is where you can find Portsmouth City Council corporate and school-specific health and safety policies, guidance documents, templates, incident report forms and other relevant information to assist school management teams in maintaining a healthy workplace.

The Joint Health Safety and Wellbeing Forum minutes and associated H&S Unit e-newsletter are key documents for keeping up to date with the latest developments in corporate health and safety management applicable to your school/Service (also available here).

The Portsmouth City Council H&S Unit's role includes:

· Providing specialist advice and assistance to management and staff throughout the Council and schools/other Services signed up to the Traded Service, whilst adopting sensible risk management principles

· Providing assurances to the corporate management board that the council and schools/other Services signed up to the Traded Service are working in compliance with current health and safety legislation and adopting recognised good working procedures

· Sharing good practice and ‘lessons learnt’ with other authorities, partners and relevant outside organisations
