Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Rebecca Hammond. I have been teaching 1st grade for the past four years at North Elementary. This will be my first year teaching Kindergarten and I am SO excited! I went to elementary school at North when I was a child. I love being able to come back and teach at the same place where I grew up. I graduated from Winthrop University with an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently in graduate school studying for a Masters of Education in Language, Literacy and Culture. I love studying and learning more about education! I live in Lancaster with my husband and our dog, Jax. Jax is four years old and I think he is the cutest dog around! Some of my favorite things to do are spend time with my family and friends, read, travel and go to Gamecock football games during the fall. My favorite subject is READING! I love helping children grow a love for reading!

Kindergarten will be an exciting first year of school for your child. Your child will learn so many new things and make so many new friends. In order to have a successful year, we will communicate often! We will communicate through weekly newsletters, phone calls, e-mails and conferences. Please feel free to let me know whenever you have questions! I am here to help make this transition to a new school easier for you and your family.

I look forward to a fun year full of learning and exploring.
