Middle school is a fun and crazy time for kids. While some count the days until they leave middle school, I have been in middle school for over 20 years. I received my counseling degree from New Mexico State University and have been at Sierra Middle School for the last 15 years helping students learn to navigate life, friends and school work. I believe middle school can be an exciting time to learn and grow and there is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to this fun time in a child’s life.

Hello! I completed my counseling degree at South Dakota State University. I have worked in public schools for many years with students and families to manage mental health issues that have interfered with school success. I really believe all students want to be successful but need help managing the barriers that are keeping them from experiencing this success - academically, behaviorally and socially. I am also licensed in New Mexico as a LPCC, Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Sierra Middle School Counselors work collaboratively with other educators, families and community members to provide a comprehensive counseling program for all Sierra students. Through promoting and enhancing the growth and development of every student in three areas: academic, personal/social and career development, the school counselors are able to help students work toward their personal goals. We work to prepare students to be purposeful thinkers, effective communicators, self-directed learners, productive group members, responsible citizens and their best self.

We meet the developmental needs of the whole student by:

  • School wide programming
  • Coordination of services
  • Referrals for specialized assistance
  • Parent consultations
  • Assist with career exploration
  • Faculty consultation, collaboration and education
