Then and Now

Mayfield High School
is situated in the north valley of the Las Cruces metropolitan area. Opened in 1965, the staff and faculty are committed to ensuring that students of all ability levels are prepared for the challenges of life after high school.

School enrollment is approximately 1530 students for grades 9-12.  Students with Hispanic heritage make up approximately 72.8% of the student population while 28% of the students are non-Hispanic (African-American, Asian, Native American, and Anglo among others).

The students, faculty, staff, and administration are proud to be Mayfield Trojans, because our school has so much to offer!

Mayfield High School is a comprehensive high school offering students the opportunity to explore both academic and technical objectives.  Our class schedule is designed to meet the needs of a truly diverse student population.

College and Career Readiness:
All students at Mayfield declare a focus from sixteen career clusters including Agriculture and Natural Resources; Architecture & Construction; Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication; Business Management and Administration; Education and Training; Finance; Health Science; Government and Public Administration; Hospitality and Tourism; Human Services; Information Technology; Law and Public Safety; Manufacturing;  Retail/Wholesale Sales & Service; Scientific Research and Engineering; Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. Students, parents, and faculty collaborate through the Career Advisement Program (CAPS) to schedule classes that will best equip students for college and/or the world of work.

High academic standards continue to be maintained while more school-to-work options are available. The Advanced Placement Program has experienced growth in enrollment over the past 10 years. Students may select from sixteen subject areas in this program.

Several courses are articulated with Dona Ana Community College and New Mexico State University, allowing students to earn credit on a college transcript while taking courses at Mayfield High School.
