  • K-2 field/fun Friday April 28th from 8:45-10:30 Hello Parents, On Friday April 28th from 8:45-10:30, we are having our K-2 field/fun day here at Columbia. Students will be outside doing many fun activities such as, sack races, tug of war, hula hoop contest, Frisbee toss, basketball skills, and other exciting activities. These many activities will get your child active, while they’re having a great time. Parents please be aware that this is an outside event, so sunscreen and comfortable clothes are needed.   • 3rd-4th-5th Track Meet Hello parents, Well it’s that time of year…yeah you guessed it, TRACK MEET TIME!! Yes, another year is coming to an end and it’s time to hit the track. It is a little earlier in the year this year. We will combine all 3rd, 4th, 5th grades into a one day track meet event. This will give parents who have children in different grades the opportunity to watch their kiddos during that day. The track meet will be held on Columbia’s soccer field on Friday, April 21st starting at 8:45ish.   • April Newsletter Team Columbia Families, April showers bring May flowers! April also brings PARCC and NMSBA state testing.    What is PARCC? PARCC stands for Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Career.  It is a series of assessments in language arts and mathematics that are aligned to Common Core State Standards and given in a computer based testing environment. The PARCC is administered for students in grades 3rd – 5th at Columbia Elementary.  We will begin next week April 11th until the following Thursday, April 20th.  Within the first week, students will take three sessions in English Language Arts.  The second week, students will take four sessions of mathematics.   The window is three weeks long to allow ...
