Welcome to my webpage! I am Carrie Hicks, and I teach Newspaper and Leadership. I am also one of the SCA sponsors, which goes hand-in-hand with the Leadership class.
Let me tell you a little about myself since you are here checking out my page. I grew up here in Louisa and graduated from LCHS in 2001. I loved my high school experience, and I came right back after college. While I was here I was involved in several activities including cheerleading, Newspaper, Yearbook, and National Honor Society.
I graduated from Longwood University with a BA in Literature/Secondary Education in December 2004 and fell into a job teaching at Prince Edward High School in Farmville, Virginia. Although I loved my job there, I knew Louisa is where I wanted to be. My husband and I packed up and moved back and eventually started our family. A Master's degree, two little girls, several animals and houses later, I am embarking on my 16th year teaching in Louisa, and I still love it!
This year I am looking forward to another year as the adviser for The Lion's Roar, our school newspaper. Newspaper was one of my favorite classes in high school, and I am very excited to be on the other side of the table these days.
I also can not wait to help groom the next leaders of our school and community with the Leadership class!
